The Ohio County Sheriff's Office hires officers from an eligibility list.

This list is generated by a Civil Service test, given by the

Ohio County Deputy Sheriff's Civil Service Commission.

The next test will be given on

Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 7:00 pm

And again on

Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 9:00 am

REQUIREMENTS

(1) Vision - 20/70 uncorrected in each eye. No color blindness.

(2) Hearing - No deficiency allowed.

(3) Height/Weight - Weight in proportion at time of application.

(4) Age - 18 to 45 years. Mandatory retirement at age of 65.

(5) License - Driver's license required

The Commission may refuse to examine an applicant, or after examination, to certify as eligible, one who is addicted to the habitual use of intoxicating liquors or drugs; or who has been convicted of a felony or who has been guilty of infamous or notoriously disgraced conduct; or who has been dismissed from public service for delinquency or misconduct or who has made a false statement or any material fact, or practiced or attempted to practice any deception or fraud in his or her application, in any such examination or in securing his or her eligibility, or who refuses to comply with the rules and regulations of the Commission.

A passing score shall be established by the Commission, and the Commission will post the eligibility list containing the names and grades of those who have passed the competitive examination. The names will be listed according to the highest numerical test score. All tied scores will be decided by a blind drawing conducted by the Commission.

All persons qualifying for the eligibility list must subsequently undergo and pass a medical examination in order to qualify for certification or appointment as a deputy sheriff.
