Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Man
Arrested on Murder Charge WHEELING,
WEST VIRGINIA - A Sewickley, Pennsylvania, resident was arrested this
afternoon on charges related tot he disappearance of an Ohio County,
West Virginia, resident in May 2006. United
States Attorney Sharon L. Potter; Scott R. Smith, Prosecuting Attorney
of Ohio County; Thomas F. Burgoyne, Ohio County Sheriff's Office; and
Special Agent in Charge Ray Morrow, Federal Bureau of Investigation,
announced that EUGENE J. TALIK, JR., age 38, of 102 Burdine Drive,
Sewickley, Pennsylvania, was arrested this afternoon by agents of the
Federal Bureau of Investigation on a Criminal Complaint charging TALIK
with traveling in interstate commerce from the State of Pennsylvania to Ohio
County, West Virginia, with the intent to kill his dating partner Kelly
Jo Elliott and did, as a result of such travel, commit a crime of
violence against Kelly Jo Elliott by killing her on May 25, 2006 Law
enforcement officers searched an area in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania,
today and recovered what are believed to be the remains of Kelly Jo
Elliott. Members of the United
States Attorneys Office, including the Victim-Witness Coordinator, met
with immediate family members today and advised them of the recovery of
what are believed to be the remain of Kelly Jo Elliott. The
crime carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a fine of
$250,000. The case was investigated
by the Ohio County Sheriff's Office, the Federal; Bureau of
Investigation, and the Pennsylvania Sate Police, with assistance from
the Ohio County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. "This
investigation so far truly exem0lifies how law enforcement working
together as a team produces results," stated USA Potter.
